Tune your whole website
from one place.
One plugin, one dashboard. MetaWrench takes over from the stack
that’s already fighting itself and keeps every part of your site in spec.
The stack a WordPress site quietly accumulates
Everyone says all-in-one. Almost nobody means it.
The phrase usually means one category, done thoroughly. A caching plugin that also cleans your database calls itself all-in-one. So does a security plugin that also does backups. Both are useful. Neither is what the phrase says.
MetaWrench covers twenty-eight separate tools that would otherwise be a dozen separate plugins — from schema markup to firewall rules to SMTP authentication. That’s a different claim, and it’s the one worth checking before you believe it.
Here’s exactly what we do and don’t do →Decide what search engines see, and what they skip
Three tools that control how your site is crawled — the sitemap search engines read, the robots.txt file that guides them, and the llms.txt file that does the same job for AI.
Sitemap
MetaWrench manages the sitemap WordPress already generates instead of adding a second, competing one. Uncheck the post types and taxonomies you don't want in it and Google spends its time on the pages that matter.
- Exclude any post type or taxonomy
- Point it at a custom address if you need to
- Submit to Google and Bing without leaving the page
Robots.txt
The file that tells search engines where they may and may not go. Add a path to block without touching a text editor, and the sitemap line is written in for you — so the two can't drift out of step.
- WordPress admin and core files blocked automatically
- Warns you if your site is hidden from search entirely
- Raw editor there if you want it
AI / llms.txt
The AI equivalent of robots.txt. It tells ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews who you are, what you do and where you work — written for you out of your My Business answers.
- Generated from your business details, not typed by hand
- Lists your services, service areas and key pages
- Override it any time, or reset to the default

ChatGPT can't find you.
Search engines get a sitemap. AI tools get nothing — unless you give them one. MetaWrench writes yours from details you already entered.
Make the site faster, then prove it got faster
Seven tools that between them replace a caching plugin, an image optimiser and a database cleaner — with a measurement before and after, and an off switch on every one of them.
Page speed
The score tells you how Google graded the page. The times below it tell you what a customer actually waits for — and every measurement is kept, so you can try a setting, see what it did, and go back if it made things worse.
- Score and load time side by side
- Core Web Vitals in plain English
- Keeps every measurement, so you can roll back to your best
Images
Photos of your work are the heaviest thing on a trade site. WebP conversion cuts them by a quarter to a third with no visible difference, and the bulk tool handles everything you've already uploaded.
- New uploads converted automatically
- Lazy loading, with the top images left alone
- Missing width and height filled in for you
CSS / JS / HTML
Two separate jobs: making files smaller, and not loading the ones a page has no use for. Name the files to leave alone and your page builder keeps working.
- Minify CSS, JavaScript and HTML
- Delay JavaScript until someone interacts
- Exclude any file that misbehaves
/wp-content/themes/child/custom.css
Cache
Browser caching speeds up people coming back. Page caching speeds up everyone, including first-timers — pre-built HTML served before WordPress even loads.
- Typically 2–10x faster time to first byte
- Clear and preload in one click
- Your edits still appear immediately
Fonts & Videos
Two things that quietly cost you seconds. Browsers hide your text until the font arrives, and a single YouTube embed pulls down a megabyte of scripts before anyone presses play.
- Text appears instantly instead of waiting on a font
- Fonts can be moved onto your own server
- Videos load the player only when clicked
CDN / DNS
If you run a CDN, point MetaWrench at it and every static file is rewritten to load through it. If you don't, the DNS settings still shave the connection delay off everything the page pulls in from elsewhere.
- Works with Cloudflare, BunnyCDN, KeyCDN and others
- Strips version query strings so CDNs will cache
- Opens connections to fonts and analytics early
Cleanup
Every edit you've ever made is still sitting in the database as a revision, along with the spam, the trash and years of expired data. Clear it out — and see exactly what you're clearing first.
- Counts shown before you delete anything
- Clear one item type at a time
- Or set it to run weekly on its own
Slow site = lost calls.
Caching, images, code and database cleanup in one place — with a measurement before and after, so you can see it worked.
Write it, score it, and stop losing pages
Six tools covering the words search engines read, the markup that explains your business to them, and the links that break quietly while nobody is looking.
On-page SEO
Every page scored against the same checks, in one table — not one page at a time. Open a row and it tells you what's holding that score down and where the page currently ranks.
- The whole site scored in one pass
- Rank and backlinks beside every score
- Only the failing checks shown, not all fourteen
Schema
The markup that tells Google what your business is rather than making it guess. Switch on the parts you want and MetaWrench writes valid JSON-LD from the answers you already gave in My Business.
- Star ratings and breadcrumbs in your listing
- Service areas and services carried through
- Preview the output, or override it entirely

404 monitoring
Every address a visitor or a search engine asked for that doesn't exist, with how often and how recently. The ones at the top are costing you calls right now.
- Logged automatically, nothing to set up
- Sorted by how much traffic each one is losing
- Turn any row into a redirect in one click
Redirects
Send an old address to a new one so the ranking and the links pointing at it carry over. No .htaccess, no separate redirect plugin.
- 301 for permanent, 302 for temporary
- Created straight from the 404 log
- Survives a theme change — it isn't in your theme
Broken links
Links on your site pointing at pages that no longer exist — a supplier who redesigned, a partner who closed, a page you deleted two years ago. Grouped by the page they're on so you can fix them in one pass.
- Checks internal and external links
- Shows the anchor text so you can find it fast
- Re-checked weekly, cached in between
Page edit screen
The box that sits under every page while you write it. Title and description with live counters, a focus keyword, and advice that changes depending on whether you're writing a service page, a service area page or a blog post.
- Counters and bars, not a red cross after saving
- Advice written for the page type you picked
- Works in Gutenberg, Classic, Elementor and Divi
What’s holding your pages back?
Every page scored against the same checks, with its keyword, rank and backlinks beside it. Open any row and it tells you exactly what to fix.
Sign in once and stop hunting for tracking IDs
Three tools that connect your site to the places your numbers actually live — and put every advertising tag in one place instead of pasted into your theme.
Reporting
One Google sign-in connects Search Console, Analytics and your Business Profile. The numbers then appear on your MetaWrench dashboard, so you stop logging into three separate places to find out how last month went.
- Search Console, Analytics and Business Profile in one sign-in
- Bing and DuckDuckGo alongside Google
- Every card says what it needs before you start
Advertising
Your ad spend and conversions read back into the same dashboard as your search numbers. If you're paying for leads and ranking for them at the same time, this is where you find out which one is actually working.
- Google Ads and Bing Ads side by side
- Spend and conversions on the dashboard
- Sits next to your organic numbers, not in another tab
Tracking pixels
Paste an ID and MetaWrench puts the pixel on every page. Nine platforms, no editing header.php, and nothing to reinstall the next time you change theme.
- Nine platforms, one field each
- Each one says where to find the ID
- A scanner finds tags already on the site
Stop logging into four places.
Search Console, Analytics, Business Profile and your ad accounts, all reporting to one dashboard. Sign in to Google once and the rest sorts itself out.
Find out your contact form has been failing
WordPress email fails silently on most hosts — no error, no bounce, just an enquiry that never arrives. Three tools to route it properly, prove it sent, and check the records that decide whether it lands in the inbox or the spam folder.
SMTP
By default WordPress hands your enquiries to the server's own mail function, which most hosts throttle, misconfigure or block outright. Route it through a real provider instead — pick one and the server settings fill themselves in.
- Gmail, Outlook, SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES or custom
- Host, port and encryption set for you
- Send yourself a test before you trust it
Email log
Every message the site tried to send, whether it arrived, and what the error was if it didn't. When a customer says they never heard back, this is the difference between guessing and knowing.
- Filter to just the failures
- Search by address or subject
- Shows which form or plugin sent it
Deliverability
Three DNS records decide whether your email reaches the inbox or the spam folder. MetaWrench checks yours, explains what each one does in plain terms, and gives you the exact record to paste if it's missing.
- SPF, DKIM and DMARC checked against your domain
- The TXT record written out for you
- Re-run the checks after you change DNS
Silent failures cost you jobs.
WordPress email fails quietly on most hosts. No error, no bounce — just an enquiry that never arrives. See every message your site sent.
Keep the bots out, and know when something changes
WordPress sites get probed constantly, whether anyone knows the business or not. Three tools: hardening the obvious weak points, turning hostile requests away before they reach your theme, and telling you if anything on the server has changed.
General
The three hardening jobs a WordPress site needs and almost never gets: brute-force lockout on the login, PHP execution blocked in your uploads folder, and the HTTP headers that stop your pages being framed or sniffed.
- Lockout after a set number of failures
- Uploads folder can't execute PHP
- Off by default — you turn each one on
Firewall
Turns away the scanner traffic that hits every WordPress site — sqlmap, nikto, nmap and the rest — before it reaches your theme. It never runs inside wp-admin, so it can't lock you out of your own site.
- Blocks known scanner tools and injection patterns
- Login protection with lockout after repeated failures
- Every block logged with the reason why
Malware
Checks your server files for backdoors, webshells and obfuscated code, and your database for injected links and hidden redirects. Anything flagged can be quarantined — and anything you trust can be marked safe so it never comes up again.
- Files and database, not just one of the two
- Quarantine rather than delete
- Mark your own plugins as safe
✓ All Clear — No Issues Found
Your site files look clean. Run regular scans to stay on top of any changes.
All WordPress core files match the official release.
1 file uses encoded functions. Common in some commercial plugins — mark it safe if you recognise it.
No injected links, iframes or redirect scripts found in posts, options or comments.
Locked down, not locked out.
Firewall, login limits and malware scanning that never run inside wp-admin — so they can’t shut you out of your own site.
A copy you can actually restore from
A backup nobody has ever restored is a guess. Three tools: take the copy, put it back, or move the whole site to a new host — all from the same archive.
Backup
Take a copy now or run it on a schedule, and send it somewhere that isn't the server it's backing up. Full site, database only, or files only.
- Server, Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3 or FTP
- Full, database only or files only
- Scheduled and forgotten about
Restore
Every backup listed with its size and date, and a Restore button beside it. You can also upload an archive from somewhere else and put that back instead.
- Restore, download or delete any copy
- Upload an archive taken elsewhere
- Progress shown while it runs
Migrate
Move the site to a new host or a new domain using the same archive your backups already produce. The site address is updated for you, and a rollback copy is taken before anything is overwritten.
- Same archive as a normal backup
- Site address swapped automatically
- No separate migration plugin
Could you get your site back?
Scheduled backups to Drive, Dropbox or S3 — and a restore that puts your site back the way it was if anything goes wrong partway.
Simple yearly pricing. No surprises.
The stack you would otherwise assemble costs about $869 a year across twelve licences. This is all of it, for less than the firewall plugin alone.

Questions people ask before installing
Will this conflict with Yoast, Rank Math or All in One SEO?
Yes, if you run both. Two SEO plugins write two sets of meta tags into the same page head, which confuses search engines. Deactivate and delete the other one first. The same goes for caching, security, backup and SMTP plugins — MetaWrench covers those jobs too.
Do I have to use all of it?
No. Every area is off until you turn it on. Want only the SEO and schema side? Leave Performance, Security, Email and Backup alone and nothing in them runs.
Isn't a twenty-eight-tool plugin going to be bloated?
Bloat comes from code that loads whether you need it or not. Twelve separate plugins means twelve sets of stylesheets, scripts and database queries on every page load, and no way to stop them. MetaWrench loads only what you've enabled.
Will it work for my type of website?
Almost certainly. Home services, automotive, medical, beauty, fitness, food and drink, retail, professional services, hospitality, education, pets, real estate, software, ecommerce, manufacturing, agriculture, transport, events, government and non-profits are all covered. Pick the closest match in setup and the fields, schema and recommendations adjust. Nothing fits exactly? There's a general option.
What happens to my settings if I deactivate it?
They stay. Per-page data lives in post meta, settings live in the options table, and deleting the plugin leaves both alone so reinstalling picks up where you left off.
What happens to my site if I remove it?
It goes back to how it was. Cache rules, generated files and scheduled jobs are all removed on deactivation, so a site with MetaWrench gone behaves as though it was never installed. Most plugins leave that debris behind.
Does it work with the block editor?
Yes, and with the classic editor, Elementor, Divi and Beaver Builder.
Does it handle sitemaps?
It manages the sitemap WordPress already generates rather than adding a competing one. Exclude post types and taxonomies, keep author archives out, point it at a custom address, and robots.txt stays in step automatically.
Can one page have more than one schema type?
Yes, and that's the point. A service page is often a Service and an FAQPage at once. Select both and each outputs its own JSON-LD block.
What's the difference between free and Pro?
Free covers everything needed to be found and to get your site back — indexing, schema, meta tags, redirects, connections, SMTP, basic security, and backup with restore. Pro adds the seven Performance tools, whole-site SEO scoring, live firewall rules, email logging and deliverability checks, and site migration.
Can I use it on client sites?
Yes. Buy one licence per site in your own name, or have the client buy their own. Either way the key can be moved to a different site later, and support goes to whoever holds the licence. Agency plans for many sites are coming; until then, email us if you need more than five.
What if it doesn't work out?
Full refund within 14 days of buying Pro, no reason needed. Email support with the address you bought with and it goes back to your card. The plugin keeps running on the free tier afterwards.
